Welcome to the Writers Room!
At the Writers Room, a staff of trained peer tutors is available to meet with you at every stage of the writing process. You can meet with a tutor to discuss ideas for an upcoming assignment, edit a rough draft of a paper, or review a professor's comments on completed work. Tutors meet with any and all members of the Wesleyan community, such as freshman, senior thesis writers, even faculty members. Everyone is welcome, and all services are free.
Writing Workshop Appointments are held inside the Writers Room, located in the Science Library. A Zoom option is also available with select tutors. The Workshop will be open for appointments starting September 21st, 2026.
All appointments begin on the hour and last for 45 minutes. After your appointment, we invite you to provide feedback on our services through this survey.
Writers Room AI Policy
At the Writers Room, we are committed to our sessions being a space of learning through conversation and collaboration. We believe that writers can learn and grow without using generative AI in their writing process, and simultaneously understand that AI is being integrated into writing, reading, and research technologies at a rapid pace.
To better support the needs of all students who are adapting to the changing academic landscape, we guarantee that the Writers Room staff will not report AI usage to the Honor Board or faculty. Students will be individually responsible for complying with the recently implemented university-wide AI policy, which states that AI usage is not allowed in academic settings unless otherwise communicated by a professor.
Although we will not report AI use, Writers Room staff members reserve the right to refuse to work with AI and AI-generated text if such technology use goes against their values. As such, a full understanding of a student's writing process is necessary for us to best support a writer's goals.
